Hot Cheap Stocks To Invest In Right Now

The volumes of liquefied natural gas, or LNG, leaving American shores are booming right now. The United states will leap from an almost nonexistent player a few years ago to the world's third-largest exporter in a span of roughly five years. To be fair, global LNG trade has erupted in the last two decades, but cheap shale gas made the U.S.'s entry possible in a big way.

While numerous LNG export terminals dotting the Gulf Coast are in various stages of development, the first major facility and current largest producer is the Sabine Pass facility owned by Cheniere Energy Partners LP (NYSEMKT:CQP). The partnership is largely controlled and majority-owned by Cheniere Energy. That means the current 6.9% distribution yield is essentially funding the construction of the parent's next export facility in Corpus Christi, although any investor seeking income can get in on the action.

The yield is impressive, and LNG is going to be one of the most important energy sources for decades to come, but does that alone make Cheniere Energy Partners LP a buy?

A Recode article in December made waves when it asserted that Home Depot was considering acquiring XPO Logistics (NYSE:XPO), the U.S. leader in last-mile delivery of heavy goods like furniture and appliances. Hot Cheap Stocks To Invest In Right Now: S&P GSCI(GD)

Sciple: That will be our first look at how any of these companies was affected by the shutdown. We had a lot of defense contractors reporting earnings in this past week. Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT), General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), Raytheon (NYSE:RTN), Northrop (NYSE:NOC). Of course, those numbers are not embracing a significant chunk of the government shutdown. However, they did give relatively muted guidance looking out into next year. Can you talk about that a little bit?

  • [By Lou Whiteman]

General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) stock has had an odd couple of years, gaining more than 17% in 2017 but still lagging most of its defense rivals. Interest in defense stocks, including General Dynamics, has ebbed in recent months, but the company still trades at a discount to some of its chief rivals.

  • [By Paul Ausick]
